Maruti Suzuki service station to pay Rs 16K for deficient service
A Maruti Suzuki authorised service centre has been directed to pay over Rs 16,000 to one of its customers for deficient service provided to him.
The South West District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum held Maruti Sales and Service liable for deficiency in service by relying on the documentary evidence and sworn testimony of the customer Gurvinder Singh.
"All the documentary evidence produced by the complainant coupled with his own sworn testimony submitted through his own affidavit in his evidence fully establish his allegations as made in the complaint.
"The complaint as against opposite party (Maruti Sales and Service) is maintainable and hence allowing the complaint, we direct it to refund Rs 6,143 charged from him for service, which was deficient and rendering it liable to compensate him for the deficiency in service," the bench presided by Narendra Kumar said and directed the service centre to pay Rs 10,000 as compensation to Singh.
The forum's order came on the plea of Singh who alleged that due to negligence in fixing the disc-pads of the brakes of his Alto car, the service centre had caused damage to his vehicle.
He had also said that Maruti had charged him Rs 6,143 for fixing the disc-pads.
Maruti in its defence contended that they had not charged him for replacing the disc-pads and had only charged him Rs 270 as labour charges.
The forum rejected the contention by relying on the bills of service submitted by Singh and his statement in the feedback form that his vehicle was not properly serviced.
