Anchor-turned-actor Manish Paul's first Bollywood outing 'Mickey Virus' has collected Rs 4. 75 crore in its opening weekend.
'Mickey Virus', which also marks the debut of Swedish actress Elli Avram, who is currently locked in the Bigg Boss 7 house, had opened to mixed reviews this Friday (October 25).
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the opening weekend's figures today and said the movie was steady despite being on the lower side. "#MickeyVirus collected Rs. 4.75 cr [early estimates] nett in its opening weekend. Breakup: Fri 1.35 cr, Sat 1.60 cr, Sun 1.80 cr.."
On its day of release, 'Mickey Virus' had done a collection of Rs 1.35 crore but the collections picked up slightly on Saturday and Sunday.
Indian Express' reviewer Shubhra Gupta had also said that the film "is all fun up to a point, and despite a couple of amateurish edges, the director shows potential."
Shubhra Gupta in her review further wrote: "What I liked about this bunch is that they are not trying too hard, and except for a couple of exaggerations, seem just right for their milieu. They are all appropriately named : apart from Manish Paul's cocky layabout Mickey the Virus, there is Gupta as Chutney, the lone girl in the group but holding her own, Kakkar as Floppy, and Kumar as Pancho. And Nitesh Pandey, as the Professor, who knows everything."
Apart from Manish and Elli, Saurabh Varma's 'Mickey Virus' features Manish Chaudhary, Varun Badola, Puja Gupta, Raghav Kakkar, Nitesh Pandey and Vikesh Kumar.
