Police said Kapil’s friend, who was with him in the car, did not sustain any injuries. Passersby gathered to help the two and also informed police.

According to police, Kapil, a resident of Sangam Vihar, Southeast Delhi, was a member of a criminal gang and was reportedly getting threats from a rival gang in Pul Prahladpur. Police said he had been involved in shoot-outs twice before.
