Pune, Nov 17: MAN Force Trucks, the JV between Force Motors in Pune and German manufacturer MAN Nutzfahrzeuge (MAN), has begun testing waters in the Indian market with the pre-production of the first 50 trucks in the North India.
“The first 50 vehicles that have come out of the Pithampur plant include the 49-tonne tractor trailer, 25-tonne tippers and 25-tonne rigid vehicles. The idea is to get feedback from the market and fine-tune the vehicles according to market requirements,” Abhay Firodia, CMD, Force Motors said.
Making it clear that the trucks would be targeted in the premium segment, Firodia said that the company was yet to work out the pricing structure. He said that after working out the application requirements of the Indian market, the trucks would be introduced in the rest of the market in a phased manner. “The formalities of the JV with MAN have been finalised and the plant will begin full-fledged operations from December this year,” he said.
