Mumbai: After being with the Mahindra Group for four years, the chief technology officer (CTO) of the group, Arun Jaura, bid adieu to the group on Wednesday. Jaura who joined M&M from Ford (Detroit) plans to explore “larger canvas of business opportunities with larger footprint.” Ask him where he is headed to, and Jaura says, “My next journey and trip sheet will be ready by next week. I have two offers in hand - one from an auto major and the other from a company into multiple business verticals like defence.”
The company could not be contacted.
Jaura joined the Mahindras as vice-president research and development (R&D) and global product development in auto sector. He was assigned with larger role as the group CTO early last year. His profile included exploring technology for the group, reaching out to knowledge centres and research institutions in India and overseas and seeking partners to leapfrog in strategic areas.
During his tenure with M&M, he was directly involved for more than two years overseeing the Xylo programme. He was also engaged with other programmes including Scorpio with 48 new features, New Bolero, Alfa three-wheeler, Scorpio start-stop among others. Last year, Jaura was appointed by the executive council of Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) as the chairman of the National Hybrid Propulsion Programme (NHPP), an initiative by the auto players and government.
