LS polls likely in Sept: Mulayam
Yadav, whose party supports the UPA from outside, has said in the past as well that general elections will be advanced from their schedule in 2014 but this is the first time he has specified a time frame.
“The elections may be announced after the Budget session by the government and may be held in September, so SP workers should be prepared,” Yadav told party workers at the SP office. The Congress, for this reason, will present a people-friendly budget, he added.
“Those in Congress are thinking on this line. In the upcoming budget, they will dole out something populist which will overshadow the corruption and price-rise of the past four years,” he said.
“The Congress knows very well to shift focus from the main issues. The Delhi gangrape, beheading of our soldiers on the border are some issues which have already been placed on the backburner. Congress misleads the nation on important issues,” Yadav said.
He also lamented that the party was not organising training camps for workers to keep them updated about the party line on key issues and said he would ensure they are revived after the Kumbh Mela.
