"More and more organisation need to have in place a clear strategy for developing top talent so the company is not in a situation, where it is without a leadership, or the company is compelled to take a bad decision because you have to make a harried choice," Co-Founder and Senior Vice President of TeamLease Services, Rituparna Chakraborty, said.
With respect to succession planning, there is definitely a long way to go for India, Chakraborty said, adding that there is optimism as some organisations are still trying and thinking about it.
Global giant Microsoft's appointment of Satya Nadella should be an eye-opener for many companies in India, she added.
