: Twenty-one judges of the Supreme Court, including the Chief Justice of India, KG Balakrishnan, have set a fine example by declaring their assets on the Supreme Court Web site. This is a new beginning in the direction of bringing transparency to the judiciary. At the same time, the higher judiciary must accept any move that enhances judicial transparency and safeguards judicial independence. Also, now is the time for the judiciary to sort out all the ambiguities arising from the RTI Act.
