Saturday , May 10, 2008 at 2106 hrs With crude oil price soaring beyond $122 per barrel and showing ascendent trends, it is depressing that electric car manufacturing is not getting attention in India. The electric car made by the only unit in Bangalore suffers from a high price and long delivery time. There has been much talk about hybrid car projects in the last five years, but whether they have made progress beyond the drawing board is not known. Electric cars do not need petrol and are non-polluting. Maybe Tata Motors, known for its pioneering spirit, should venture to manufacture small electric cars in India.
