» No pace for bandhs in democracy

I t is one thing to have an ideology which promotes Bandhs ,hartals and strikes to grab power and then rule dictatorially as communism dictates and another thing to rule in a democratic set up. Communists have no democracy concept in the core of their ideology. Hence the conflict of obstructing democratic functioning while at the same time ruling the state. This is a contradiction. Communist should either embrace democratic principles of functioning or go their way to doom in the death embrace of communist destructive ideology. Sooner they chose, better to the country. We wish that Marx to be alive today to knock some sense into the ossified skulls of the fading communists and wake them up to triumph of democracy against all other "cracies" and liberalism against all other "isms"

It is natural for left parties to view the statement of the CM seriuosly and they may discuss this at the highest party forum too.The left is anti-development,anti-reform and anti-productivity too.The left is totally irrelevant in India.Bandhs, strikes, agitations etc are the hallmark of the operations of the left. The CM was right in saying so.That is why no industrialist is bold enough to go to West Bengal to make investments.Four decades back left had successfully driven many industrialists to western and southern Indian states.History may repeat.karats are the leaders whoknow how to stop all progressive steps and programmes.Left must be fully eliminated from Indian soil in the intersts of growth.

Bandhs, hartal or whatever other name you call it by, is in reality a sort of terrorism and violation of human rights of ordinary citizens. when judiciary passed judgment against bandhs the politicians changed its name to hartal. Kerala state is the prime example of the irresponsible manner in which hartals are called for (more than 80 hartals so far this year). I heard today an aspiring left leader saying that bandhs is a democratic right (identitical to Mr. D. Raja's words). From where did get this idea? He did not explain why the people of Kerala or Bengal are staging record number of bandhs and hartals. Perhaps bandhs are the only method of protest known to the left parties. Other political parties are also following the same route. No one is bothered about the financial cost of disruptions to normal life. Bandhs are an opportunity to let antisocial elements loose on the streets to terrorize citizens and to make every bandh a huge success. Even people who basically do not care about the reasons for the bandhs are afraid to be in the street due to this sort of terrorism. No party calling for the bandh has ever admitted responsibility for the destruction and damages. So far, I have not heard about any issue being resolved because of a hartal or bandh. I admire Mr. Battacharjee's courage to state that bandhs do not help the country. Who cares about the country while the party is preparing for the elections?
