Says chief physician and managing trustee Aryavidyan PK Warrier who recently was in Spain for treating a senior member of the royal family, ‘‘A historical necessity, namely resurrection of traditional knowledge, was fulfiled a century ago. When its founder Vaidyaratnam PS Varier started the AVS, there were two major declarations - AVS will treat patients with care and the medicines prepared without any fraud. This has been the reason for the success and living up to their expectations for all these 100 years should help us sustain this trust in the coming years.’’
AVS has played a pivotal role in spreading the concept of ayurveda as a medical science, fighting all odds. In the past, it was looked down with contempt. The dearth of good physicians and the complex procedures in preparation of medicines and treatment added to the perils of the system.
