A complaint filed by IAS officer Ashok Khemka against the Central Government Employees Welfare Housing Organisation has been rejected by the UT Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum for want of territorial jurisdiction.

Khemka was declared successful in a draw of lots for the allotment of a unit in a Mohali Phase 1 housing scheme floated by the organisation in 2006.

Arguing the case himself, he contended that he had paid Rs 4.14 lakh on October 8, 2007 as the second installment in order to avoid interest liability after October 12, 2007 as intimated by a letter dated August 31, 2007 from the housing organisation which is based in New Delhi.

However, while surfing the website of the housing organisation on July 29, 2008, Khemka found that the last date for payment of the second instalment was July 30, 2008 and not October 12, 2007 following which he sent a letter to the housing organisation seeking compensation for payment of the second instalment by October 12, 2007 because of wrong intimation of the due date.
