Kochi: Permission for DFS in the period when trawling is banned would damage the intention of conservation, says a section of experts.

While the trawling boat owners insist that it is a mechanised form of fishing, those engaged in dory craft fishing are adamant that it is a traditional form of fishing. Traditional fishermen contest that pelagic method is less harmful when compared to bottom trawling because of the nets used by DFS....
