London: Hollywood star Kate Hudson shed 20 pounds for her new role in new movie 'Earthbound' by giving up alcohol.

The 'How To Loose A Guy In 10 Days' star was forced to slim down to portray a terminally ill woman who falls in love with her doctor, Elle magazine reported.

Hudson, who is currently dating New York Yankees third-baseman Alex Rodriguez, found the perfect diet solution in cutting out her favourite boozy beverages, but admits it wasn't easy.

"I love my glass of wine. I love tequila. To be in New York for two weeks and not have one beverage, I'm not sure I've ever done that!," the actress said.
