Karnataka biz leaders to meet FM on metro link

A team of top information technology and biotechnology industry leaders from Bangalore, and Karnataka Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar are set to meet with finance minister P Chidambaram on November 20 to push for early approval of a metro rail link to service a region of Bangalore where major IT bio tech firms are located.

The new 18.82 km east west line called the RV Road- Bommasandra line at a cost of Rs 5,744 crore is already part of a 72 km phase II extension scheme for the Bangalore metro project estimated to cost Rs 26,405 crore that has been approved by a high power committee, the Karnataka government and the Union urban development ministry. The project now awaits finance ministry clearances in order to go ahead.
