



New Delhi, Dec 22: Jamshedpur Utilities & Services Company Ltd (Jusco), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Steel, has joined hands with Veolia Water India Ltd (Veolia India) to develop water and waste-water services in the country. The new partnership will allow the Tata Steel subsidiary to move beyond Jamshedpur, where Jusco’s 1,400 employees service a township of 7.5 lakh people.
The two companies have entered into a joint development agreement (JDA) to participate in joint bids or proposals launched by central and state governments as well as private sector companies. Veolia India is a 100% subsididary of Veolia Water Africa-Middle East-Indian subcontinent (AMI). AMI is a member of Veolia Water, a leading global water and waste water services company which services around 50 lakh people through 6,500 employees.
A company release said, “Projects under the JDA could cover a wide range of water and wastewater services in India such as operations and maintenance, customer services, lease contracts and concessions. Proposals for the industry would also cover water treatment process and waste water recycling.”
Jusco and Veolia India have been working together on a management contract basis in Jamshedpur since 2003. Jusco is managing all city utilities while Veolia India provides expertise in reducing operating costs, increasing revenue, bringing management efficiency and monitoring performance through benchmarking practices.
