Jet Airways seeks govt nod to lease two A330s
Private carrier Jet Airways today said it has sought government's permission to lease two Airbus 330-300s to deploy them on the Mumbai-Newark (US) route as part of its A330s fleet replacement plans.
The airline has written to he government to allow it to lease two Airbus A330s to induct in its fleet, chief executive Nikos Kardassis said.
The aviation ministry officials also confirmed the development.
The Naresh Goyal-promoted airline had some time back said it had plans to take four A330-300s in the current fiscal as the A330-200 planes will be going off the fleet.
Kardassis further said, "These planes are being leased from the GE Capital's aviation arm and would be deployed on the ultra-long haul flights."
They will be replacing two A330s-200s that are going off lease. The airline will deploy them on its Mumbai-Newark route, Kardassis said.
During post-earnings analysts call early last month, airline senior vice-president for commerce and investor relations KG Vishwanath had said four A330-300s would join the fleet by the fiscal-end replacing two A330-200s, that leave the fleet.
