MUMBAI, OCTOBER 16: Naresh Goyal announced reinstatement of all sacked 1,900 Jet employees.

"Decision is not under any political pressure", said Naresh Goyal.

"Nobody including my wife is involved, all the employees are my family, I cannot see tears in their eyes", he said.

He also said, "I have nothing to do with Kingfisher, the decision does not relate with alliance".

Distancing from the decision that provoked sharp protest from the employees and some political parties, Goyal said, "Management had decided it and when I read about it I saw tears in their eyes, I decided on my own to call them back.

"There is no internal or external pressure...as a family we will decide how to fly and keep the airline offload," Goyal said.

Asked about Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thakre's threat that he would not allow Jet to fly from Mumbai, Goyal said that I have not talked to anybody.

"It does not matter what anybody says, I have not even asked my wife," an emotionally choked Goyal said.

Claiming that he did not know about day to day decisions of the management which may have taken the call because of economic condition, Goyal said that sacking has nothing to do with Kingfisher and its alliance was all together a different issue.

"Alliance with Kingfisher is a synergy and a separate issue... Steering group has been constituted and is working for the rationalisation of routes and other things," he said.

Requesting journalists not to ask any more question as he was emotionally disturbed "distraught", he said "My daughter is 19 years old.... They (sacked employees) are 20 or so... I have gone through this...I cannot see their trauma and agony".

Day after the alliance with Kingfisher, Jet Airways had announced sacking of 1,900 probationary and temporary workers to overcome the slowdown that hit the aviation sector as a result of which it was suffering daily losses of Rs 10 crore.

Good Drama. He would have done a great job in movies than running airlines. He still thinks Indians are so naive to believe in his crocodile tears, family daughter stories. I would have had respect if he would have stood by his decision. He has lost his credibility now. I think this drama was enacted to milk benefits from the government which they got as reduced customs duty, ATF prices etc.

sacking should be permitted as in other countries, otherwise there is no point to do business, politicians should employ sacked staff if they are so concerned.

A great action taken by Mr goel. The slowdown is temporary and almost virtual, market will gain soon and hence sacking employee is not solutions to this. Even these employee will help him to recover from the situation. The recession is virtual and it will improve very soon, hence all company should re think before make a cut in employee number.

all these point to some important aspects to be taken care of by the govt and the industrialists. the govt should not give permission for private airlines for unlimited flights. for initial 10 years they should limit to 10 or so. secondly the private airlines now monger over 40% load factor as the reason for the sacking. why they opened many routes without conducting a feasibility study of the load factor especially in view of the stiff competition. why they did not arrive at suitable agreements with other airlines. in intake of the staff should be to the minimum initially and if operation is viable, they can gradually increase. just for the sake of image taking more positions will not be viable. the central govt on the other hand should own up responsibility for lose of jobs, as they are the ones who opened up this field for private participation without any policy.some ministers have been making irresponsible and arrogant statements at this distressing situation.

Good drama. If Mr. Goel says he do not know what is happening in his company on day to day basis he is not fit to run the company. However the strength of employee unity and not any unions have shown the directions to the whole world how to fight. Let us pray that things get normal from now on. Thank You Mr. Goel for your emotional gesture and its time for the employees to take care of him.

Now political pressures will determine who works for a company or not. Hiring and firing should be a company's prerogative and should be influenced only by the health of a company. When politics gets in way, like everything else, the entire industrial world will be polluted.

In no way am I glorifying the sacking of the jet employees as a management decision but,Not just has Naresh Goyal made himself look like the corniest leaders of an organisation by talking like a wimp and talking about his wiife and mother and children but this entire sacking-unsacking sends a very bad impression of the political scenario to the world, I don't believe why any foreign airline would want to come o our country anymore knowing that decisions can be thwarted so easily.
