Jeera prices fell by 0.64 per cent to Rs 15,820 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators preferred to book profits at prevailing higher levels.

However, some overseas enquiries capped the losses.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in March month declined by Rs 102.50, or 0.64 per cent to Rs 15,820 per quintal with an open interest of 13,539 lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in April contract traded lower by Rs 92.50, or 0.58 per cent to Rs 15,780 per quintal in 2,115 lots.

Analysts said profit-taking by speculators at prevailing higher levels mainly pulled down jeera prices at futures trade but some overseas enquiries restricted the loss.
