New Delhi: Holding the Congress-led UPA Government responsible for the BCCI's decision to shift the IPL out of the country, senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley said the Centre's ‘non-cooperation’ will send wrong signals to international community before the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
"Has India become so unsecured that a domestic tournament has to go abroad? The whole country is disturbed with the non-cooperation by the government, which will send wrong signals about India's security condition," Jaitley told reporters.
"We used to hear about security threats to sporting events in Pakistan, but now this is happening in India. This will surely give wrong signals," he emphasised.
"After this, how will we respond to foreign teams who will travel to the country and how will we convince the tourists and players that India is secured for the Delhi Commonwealth Games?" asked Jaitley.
The BCCI decided to stage the lucrative Twenty20 tournament, which proved to be hugely popular last year, on foreign soil after government told the organisers it may not be possible to provide adequate security during the event due to upcoming general elections.
"This was the first time a global sporting brand was created in the country. But if the second edition of the event is not held in the country, that means we are diluting the brand," Jaitley said.

IPL was formed to help new and young talent. Not necessarily money making. It is now very clear the the amount invested (recently by shipla shetty and her acquaintance - some 15 million dollars odd) highlights the fact the it is BCCI money which is laundered in SWISS BANKS / ME tax havens. Clandestinely BCCI is trying to bring money into circulation by this farce IPL. Last week Mr. Mallya informed that Dravid was not playing because his wife was expecting and some foreigner will be the captain. The reason Dravid was taken off because Mr. Mallya might have know well in advance that the Matches will be abroad... Even the Sony episode is a farce. Sony TV is also involved in the clandestine deal. The IPL goondas are fooling people of India. The black Modi should accept the White Modi's offer to play in the Gujarat - Why is not taking his offer... GOI should tax the broadcasters heavily as the match is aiding british economy, who inturn aid pakistan and talibans.

Jaitley is correct on this. India has said to world that, it's a weak country and unable to host a sporting event. This is a mess created by BCCI. They want to use government forces for FREE when owners of teams are making billions. With this situation, message sent out is very wrong that India is bending to fear from terrorists. IPL is no more Indian. IPL's reality is now out in open. BCCI wants government to change plans, instead they should change IPL schedule. Indian fans should tune out IPL, don't waste time. BCCI should be taught a lesson.

The government has done the right thing. If is has even an iota of doubt that fool proof security cannot be provided for both elections and IPL mathces then it is better to be open about it. Considering the way terrorists attacked the Sri Lankan team in Pakistan I respect the government's bold decision. In any case ensuring a free and fair elections is far more important than the IPL match. Governments first duty is to ensure that voters can vote confidently without fearing of an imminent terrorist attack on its people, I am sure IPL was a huge target for the terrorists and Government did the right thing. Hats off to Mr. Chidambaram for having the guts to take down these people.

The I.P.L issue has been politicised by the Congress party . If they are not in a position to give proper security to the event let the congress government in the resepective state resign .

The same jaitley will speak the other way if any small mishap happens during the tournament.Politicians are the people worse than a brothel, they want to cash on something which happens wrong for the other side. They are the people who for time and again remind us that the human tongue doesnot have a bone, so we can speak in any way at any time and just cash vote for it.Now the trend in the political field is to catch the power by hook or crook, enjoy the poeples money during power and eat peoples money, but when it comes to debate they will say that they work for people and their only motto is to bring india as number 1.P is P that is politician is a pig.

This BJP's insane outburst on behalf of the IPL has blatantly exposed the corportisation of the Party and its link with the Dalals in the Game. It conveniently forgets the fact that the Government only requested the IPL to be rescheduled later in view of the elections which acquires greater importance in terms of security. But the IPL Organizers were adamant and finally put in the towel when various State Governments expresed their inability to provide security. In this scenario, BJP and especially Modi's outburst against the Government only reaffirms the jingoism inherent in their frame of mind. No one can forget as to how this mad man Modi invited trouble upon the people of Gujarat by proudly proclaiming time and often that no terrorist will dare attack Gujarat and finally he was put to eternal shame when bomb after bombs were discovered in the streets of Ahmedabad and Surat adding to his indignation.

It is very sad to note that the IPL matches have been shifted to countries outside India. Terrorism is everywhere in the world, including USA and Russia. They should have postponed the matches to a date after the elections. Two things are clear here. One the egoistic attitude of the conductors of the IPL, possibility of more people opening accounts in the Swiss bank. Both are harmful to the Indian community and the coutry as a whole. Like any other field sports is also apurely business affair for many in India. People who waste their time and money watching road side TVs should start thinking.
