Commerce and industry minister Anand Sharma has said India’s invitation to Pakistan commerce minister Makhdoom Amin Fahim to attend a global business summit at Agra, later this month stands.
Speaking at the Idea Exchange programme organised by The Indian Express on Wednesday, Sharma said there was never any proposal to hold any bilateral talks between the two at the three-day Annual Partnership Summit with Fahim so there is no question of cancelling such meeting.
Fahim is scheduled to address a couple of sessions at the summit that begins on January 27. Pakistan commerce secretary Munir Qureshi has also confirmed his participation at the event and “India has not withdrawn the invitation”, Sharma added. But industry sources said the visit of the 11 member Pakistani business delegation to the event has now got cancelled.
