The RBI has forecast the March end WPI inflation at 6.8 per cent.

Meanwhile, industrial output growth rate contracted by 0.6 per cent in December, 2012, compared to a growth of 2.7 per cent in same month a year ago.

India's Jan consumer price inflation at 10.79 pct-Govt

(Reuters): India's annual consumer price inflation accelerated to 10.79 percent in January from the previous month, government data showed on Tuesday.

India's retail inflation is the highest among the BRICS group of emerging economies - Brazil, Russia, China, and South Africa.

Food prices for consumers rose 13.36 percent in January from 13.04 percent in December.
