Indo-US Education Colloquium on Feb 5-6
As part of the event, more than three MoUs will be signed between the society and various US-based companies in the field of pharmacy and hotel management, said AISSMS officials.
“The colloquium will see a delegation of more than 35 renowned academicians, corporate leaders and policy makers from USA and India discuss various issues related to education and research. The delegation includes Swati Dandekar, member, Iowa Utilities Board, Bill Northey, Secretary of Agriculture, Iowa State, Mahesh Naithani of Pharamaceutical industries, to name a few,” said Captain Shivaji Mahadkar, honorary secretary, AISSMS.
Mahadkar said the aim of the colloquium is to initiate efforts to strengthen collaborative activity and build partnership between Indian and the US institutions for higher education.
“The colloquium will look at various options for Indian students such as research collaborations, dual degree programmes, twining programmes (where one semester, usually the last, is spent by a student in foreign university), student exchange programmes etc,” said Pushkar Kulkarni, manager, Business Development, AUSIB.
“The MoU’s will probably allow our Hotel Management students to go abroad for internships. We are also planning to introduce various research centres where pharmaceutical companies will outsource their work to our students. This will be a great learning opportunity for students,” said Mahadkar.
