The Credit Information Bureau (India) Ltd (Cibil) will soon allow individuals to access their credit ratings. By June next year, individuals can tap Cibil’s data base to know exactly how creditworthy they are. As of now, banks are allowed to access Cibil’s data base.

“With the proposed launch, more individuals can know where they stand. Our education campaign will teach them how to read their scores in the credit information report and also how to improve their scores,” said Arun Thukral, MD, Cibil on Wednesday.

Cibil is foraying into newer segments to strengthen its data base of credit histories of individuals. Cibil has recently added 30 cooperative banks and around 90 smaller NBFCs as members to broadbase the data base credit histories.
