Stepping up his attack on the UPA government, the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi Friday accused the Congress of using the CBI and patronising the Indian Mujahideen to counter the BJP ahead of next year’s Lok Sabha elections.
Addressing his third Vijay Shankhnad Rally in the Chaupal Sagar area of Bahraich district in Uttar Pradesh, nearly 60-km from the Nepal border, Modi said the Congress, which could not democratically defeat him and the BJP in Gujarat in three Assembly elections, was now resorting to other tactics to defeat him in the Lok Sabha elections and stop his rise.
“Sometimes they misuse CBI and sometimes give a free hand to Indian Mujahideen,” Modi said. “Those doing politics with bombs, guns and pistols should hear me, I am made of a different material.
“I feel that Congress, Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party will not contest the Lok Sabha elections and the Indian Mujahideen as well as the CBI will come forward to protect the Congress,” Modi said.
The Gujarat chief minister also said the BJP had neither bowed to terrorists nor would it now. “Instead, we will make terrorists bow down. They will be finished from their roots,” Modi told the gathering of around one lakh people.
Modi said that India never gave in to terrorism and the bullets of terrorists could not stop the country’s development. He also said there is no place for violence in democracy.
Referring to the serial blasts in Patna on the day of his rally there last month, Modi said the people of Bihar were killed “because their only fault was to say Bharat mata ki jai”.
Without naming UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi or Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, Modi said there are very senior leaders in a 100-km radius of Lucknow who command power at the Centre but are doing nothing for the state’s progress.
“They are interested only in vote bank politics for which they do not care for the safety of people. Indian Mujahideen increases its base and activities and they patronise the terror outfit for vote bank politics,”
