Indian delegation visits Germany

An Indian delegation visited Germany to observe the successful execution of vocational training in their educational system. The delegation’s aim was to understand German pattern so as to make Indian vocational education system more effective.

The 20-member team was invited by the German government as a part of its cultural exchange programme for a 10-day trip from November 19 to 29. Ankita Mishra Bundela, deputy secretary, department of higher education, HRD ministry led the team of experts from various field of education.

Sarjerao Jadhav, chairperson, Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) and Sanjivani Kuvalekar, Head of the German department, Modern college of Art, Science and Commerce were the representatives from Maharashtra.

After observing the German system, Jadhav said, “All students are given primary education and after looking at their performance, interests, talents and choices, the next step is decided. The state of infrastructure is world class.”

He further said, “Equal importance is given to vocational training and conventional education in Germany. There is demand for highly skilled professionals in various industries and the pass outs of these vocational institutes are a big catch for all industries. The report will soon be submitted to the Maharashtra government.”

Thrust is given to practical education, said Sanjivani Kuvalekar.

“All colleges have tie-ups with various industries and students spend a lot of time in these industries. Here they get hands on experience and access to real life issues that they will face in their career,” Kuvalekar said.
