SummaryThe Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777-200 went missing yesterday over the South-China Sea.

India is closely following the developments regarding the Malaysian Airlines MH370 plane in which five Indian nationals were also travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing and has assured their families of all assistance and support.

The External Affairs ministry has said that the Indian High Commission in Kuala Lumpur was in constant contact with Malaysian authorities concerned in this regard.

"The government of India is closely following developments regarding the missing Malayasian Airlines flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. Among the passengers are five Indian nationals.

"Since yesterday, the Indian High Commission in Malaysia and the embassies in China and DPR Korea have been in touch with the relatives of the five Indian nationals on the flight and we have assured them our assistance and support" the MEA said.

The Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777-200 that went missing yesterday over the South-China Sea en route to Beijing from Kuala Lumpur had 227 passengers aboard, including five Indians and one Indian-origin Canadian, and 12 crew members.

The mysterious disappearance of a plane with 239 people aboard has led to a massive multi-national search mission which continued for the second day today without any success.

Malaysia today launched a terror probe into the incident after it emerged that two passengers had boarded the flight with stolen passports.

"Our High Commission in Kuala Lumpur is also in constant contact with Malaysian authorities concerned in this regard. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those on that flight and we fervently pray for those passengers," MEA said in a release.

It also appreciated the efforts of the Malaysian government to locate the missing aircraft.
