Hooda lays foundation stone of Kalpana Chawla Medical College
The Rs 650-crore super specialty Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College will have a 500-bedded hospital, OPD, maternity hospital, emergency ward, hospital block, nursing college, auditorium, animal house and other advanced facilities. The state government has provided Rs 105.5 crore in the current financial year for the medical college. The medical college being constructed over 43 acre, will have 100 MBBS seats. The construction will be carried out by Hospital Services Consultancy Corporation India Limited.
While speaking on the occasion, Hooda said, “Between 1966 and 2005, not a single medical college or thermal power plant was set up in Haryana. The state government is also trying hard to get a domestic airport in Karnal”.
While paying tribute to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and Kalpana, Hooda said, “November 18 is the appropriate day for the launch of this mega project as on the next day, Mrs Gandhi was born, and on the same day, Kalpana took the first mission to space. Gandhi earned international name for various path-breaking initiatives. Similarly, Chawla also brought laurels to the state and the country for her bravery.
