Hyderabad: Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI) is quite upbeat on neighbouring countries for exports. The company sees good prospects in Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Bangladesh for its product line up.
Speaking to the media in Hyderabad just after the launch of ‘Jazz’, Tatsuya Natsume, director marketing, HSCI said, the company is going to export to the neighbouring countries in a big way. For example, in Sri Lanka, because of the the political unstability the company was not exporting much. But things have changed now. He was here to launch the global car ‘Jazz’ in the city.
He also reiterated that the plan to launch a small car in India is very much on schedule. The product is under development and should hit the roads in the next 2-3 years. “The first phase of our second plant project at Tapukara in Rajasthan is fully operational. It is only the second phase of the project, which is the Assembly unit, which has been postponed. Once the company achieves 100% capacity utilisation at the Noida plant we will look at the second phase of the Rajasthan project”, he said adding right now, the capacity utilisation ratio at the Noida plant is at 60% and with Jazz it is expected to go up in the near future.
Talking about Jazz, he said, the product which has already been launched in some cities has got overwhelming response from the customers. According to Ajay Budki, national head-sales of HSCI, “the market has started looking up. It should peak during the forth coming festive season. This year, Honda Siel is expecting a double digit sales growth. Last year, the overall sales of the company was 55,000 cars. With market sentiments getting better we will be able to improve our sales quarter by quarter”.
