Chandigarh:Haryana Principal Accountant General (Account and Entitlement), Chandigarh will organise the North Zone Accounting and Audit Hockey Tournament from January 21 to 23 at the Sector 42 Hockey Stadium. According to the information received, the Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department, Sameer Mathur would inaugurate the competition. A total of six teams of offices of Accountant General of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana would participate in the tournament.

Rahul, Meet star in Sumit XI win

Chandigarh:Rahul top scored with 25 runs while Meet produced a stellar all-round performance (10 not out and 2 for 11) in Sumit XI Rajpura's 31-run victory over Suchit XI Samana in a low-scoring match of the Little Champ Triangular Cricket Tournament for under-10 played on Friday. Sumit XI Rajpura batted first and were restricted to 103 for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs. Rahul played some good shots during his knock but was dismissed just when he had started to look dangerous. Youraj, Gursorya and Akshit bagged a wicket each for the bowling team. Chasing the target, Suchit XI Samana were shot out for 72 in 18.5 overs. The bowling honours went to Meet who picked up two wickets for 11 runs. Suchit and Sumeet took a wicket each. Suchit top scored for the Samana outfit with unbeaten 20 runs while Youraj Nakai chipped in with 15 runs. However, their effort would not steer the team to victory as they fell short of the target by 31 runs.

Football trials today

Chandigarh:The Chandigarh Football Association (CFA) will conduct field trials to select 25 probables for a coaching camp ahead of the forthcoming 67th National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy (Men) that will be held at Kolam (Kerela) in the months of February and March. The field trials will be held at the Panjab University Football Ground on January 19 at 2.30 pm. The Chandigarh team will play its first match against Nagaland on February 15. Chandigarh is teamed up with Gujarat and Jharkhand in the same pool. The Chandigarh outfit will leave for Kolam on February 9.
