Hindustan Motors Ltd will launch Mitsubishi's popular utility vehicle Outlander in diesel version early next year. The company, which discontinued the sale of Outlander petrol last year owing to rising costs, will launch the diesel model with a lot of added features, said P Vijayan, COO, Hindustan Motors.
Speaking to FE on Tuesday, Vijayan, who was in Chennai to announce the Pajero Sport’s anniversary edition, said: “The company is working on the new model of the diesel version and will launch it in early 2014. It will be a more rejunevated model and will be placed in the UV 4 segment (premium). As Mitsubishi's partner in India, we want to focus only on the utility vehicle segment and one can see more variants/models of Mitsubishi Pajero and Outlander going forward in India.”
While the Mitsubishi Pajero will be best for off-road driving customers, the Outlander will give soft-road driving comfort. “We will target corporate honchos, celebrities and software professionals," Vijayan said.
