New Delhi, Apr 24: : Hero Honda leads in the high volume standard and executive motorcycle segments according to tha 2003 India Motorcycle Total Customer Satisfaction Study (TCS) conducted by NFO Automotive, a specialty division of NFO Worldgroup. While Bajaj Pulsar bagged the first place for the premium segment, Royal Enfield’s Bullet Electra ranked highest among cruisers.

The study was based on responses from over 5,400 motorcycle owners during their first three years of ownership. Analysis in the study focused on the performance of of 30 motorcycles (including model variants) in the areas of sales satisfaction, product quality, performance and design, after-sales service, brand image and cost of ownership. The study, which was conducted at the motorcycle segment level to provice comparisons among similar groups of motorcycles, had the following results: Hero Honda CD100 SS was the best standard motorcycle and Hero Honda Splendor bagged the best executive motorcycle place.

“The relatively low score for the premium segment indicates that most manufacturers have fallen short of meeting the high expectations of buyers,” said NFO Automotive general manager Rajeev Lochan. “Bajaj Pulsar is one exception with segment-leading ratings across all aspects of ownership experience, particularly on areas related to vehicle styling.”

He added, “Splendor’s consistent performance is commendable, particularly during the post-warranty stage of the ownership experience. This explains Splendor’s ability to maintain its dominant market.”

In the standard segment, the models which were looked at (in descending order of placement) were Hero Honda CD100 SS, TVS Max 100, Hero Honda Dawn, Bajaj Boxer, TVS Max 100 R, Yamaha Crux and Kinetic Boss.

In the executive segment, the models looked at were Hero Honda Splendor, Hero Honda Passion, LML Freedom, TVS Victor, Yamaha Libero, Bajaj Caliber/ Caliber Croma, Yama Crux R, LML Energy FX, LML Adreno FX and Kinetic Challenger.

Premium segment models comprised Bajaj Pulsar, Hero Honda CBZ, Hero Honda Ambition, TVS Fiero and Kinetic GF 125, while the cruiser roundup was Royal Enfield Bullet Electra, Royal Enfield Bullet 350, Bajaj Eliminator and Yamaha Enticer.
