IMD has issued a warning for heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours in Konkan and Goa, including Mumbai.
“Today’s heavy showers were a result of low pressure over Bay of Bengal. We can expect this condition to last for another day. Thereafter, the monsoon will weaken and further revival will be seen after a break of 2-3 days,” said V K Rajeev, IMD Mumbai director.
“The system is not very strong, it is mainly from the Bay of Bengal, not from the Arabian sea. It has influenced rainfall on the west coast, right from Dahanu to Panjim. At Karjat, in the morning, rainfall up to 10 cm was witnessed while in the Ghats, there was 70-90 mm. The continuous drizzle with intermittent heavy showers and the sky remaining cloudy throughout the day brought down the temperatures on Wednesday,” said K S Hosalikar, deputy director-general of meteorology, IMD Mumbai.
