Sonepat (Haryana), September 30:: Heart disease and stroke are the world's largest killers, an expert claimed.

National Heart Institute Cardiology division director Vinod Sharma said that every year, "heart disease alone claims 17.5 million lives."

He said heart disease are largely preventable by taking steps that not only slower the ageing process of the heart but also reduce major risk factors.a

People who walk briskly for 35-40 minutes per day could save them from the heart attack. Morning walk for 15 minutes is equal to 10,000 steps of brisk walk, he claimed, adding smoking should be avoided.
