National Seminar on Health Management

Symbiosis Institute of Health Sciences (SIHS), Symbiosis International University, organised a two-day national seminar on Hospital/Healthcare Management, Medico- Legal Systems and Clinical Research on May 4 and 5. Dr Rajiv Yeravdekar, director, SIHS and dean, FOHS, in his inaugural address stressed the need for such seminars where eminent personalities from government and private sectors share their expertise with the senior and novice health care professionals. The chief guest of the seminar and the vice chancellor, SIU, Dr Bhushan Patwardhan, stressed on the importance of health for each individual and termed it as an active process in which each individual must participate as health is something that goes much beyond medicine.

Asthma Check-up Camp

On May 2, World Asthma Day, GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Limited (GSK) held asthma check-up camps in around 20 cities across the country. Spirometry and peak flow monitoring were conducted at the camps. The asthma check-up camps were conducted by respiratory specialty doctors. Research shows that asthma runs in families. When one or both parents have asthma, a child is more likely to develop it, too. This is known as genetic susceptibility. However, environmental factors also contribute to it, and asthma requires long-term care and monitoring.

Two-day Endourology Conference
