HDFC Bank files plaint on receipt of Rs 11.33 lakh fake notes

HDFC Bank today filed an FIR alleging that it has received fake currency notes, having face value of Rs 11.33 lakh, during transactions at its various branches in Madhya Pradesh in recent past.

"The bank handed over as many as 3174 currency notes it has received in various denominations of Rs 50, Rs 100, Rs 500 and Rs 1000 to local police", SP (East) O P Tripathi told PTI.

The FIR was filed by Hemant Kale of HDFC Chest branch in Indore.

Police are investigating the complaint, the SP said.
