The Kolkata Port Trust (KoPT) on Monday moved the Calcutta High Court seeking recall of its order by which it dismissed as not pressed KoPTís prayer seeking direction to Haldia Bulk Terminals (HBT) to resume normal cargo-handling operations.

Justice Soumen Sen, granting leave to KoPT to file the application, directed that the matter would appear before a regular bench after the Puja vacation.

In a turn of events last Friday, though the KoPT counsel did not press the matter before the court and submitted that the application be allowed to be withdrawn or dismissed, KoPT authorities later in the day issued a press release stating that it was seeking recall of the order. The release had said that there was no instruction to the senior counsel for withdrawal of the application of KoPT in connection with the writ petition filed by HBT.

KoPT counsel Biswarup Gupta had submitted before Justice Sambuddha Chakraborty that its application for a direction to HBT had become infructuous as the cargo handler had decided it would not continue operations.
