Bombay High Court (HC) heard Monday bail pleas of Gujarat deputy superintendents of police Narendra Amin and M L Parmar and inspector Balkrishna Prasad, in custody for alleged involvement in the Sohrabuddin Shaikh fake encounter case and alleged murder of his wife Kausarbi.

Appearing for Amin, who has been in prison for four years and 11 months, senior counsel Ram Jethmalani argued the only role attributed to the deputy superintendent was that he was present at the cremation of Kausarbi with other accused.

He said CBI was trying to implicate his client with former Gujarat minister Amit Shah, who was granted bail by Gujarat High Court and Supreme Court.

Jethmalani also questioned CBI not taking action against Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan police officers who escorted the bus in which Sohrabuddin and Kausarbi were taken from Hyderabad to Gujarat.

He urged the court to grant bail to Amin on health ground. He said his various ailments would make it impossible for Amin to tamper with the evidence or abscond.
