Haryana’s nod to 10% quota for economically backward classes
The council of ministers accepted the recommendations of a cabinet sub-committee headed by Finance Minister H S Chattha. The cabinet had constituted the sub committee on December 12 last year to consider the recommendations of the Backward Classes Commission and to suggest specific programmes for economic uplift of the community.”
“The reservation of 10 per cent as recommended by Haryana Backward Classes Commission will be vertical and not horizontal,” Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda told mediapersons.
The cabinet sub-committee is also of the opinion that those, who claim benefit of reservation under other categories, will not be entitled to claim benefit of reservation under this category.
To avail the reservation, the annual income of the family of the applicant should not cumulatively exceed Rs 2.50 lakh per annum for entitlement in category of ‘economically backward class’.
