With an aim to motivate students to learn things through experimenting, the Haryana government has agreed to set up Tod, Fod and Jod centres - learning through dismantling gadgets - in various schools in near future. Tod, fod and jod centres are the outcome of National Council for Innovation being set up by Sam Pitroda, advisor to Prime Minister on Public Information Infrastructure and Innovations.

Pitroda who was in Panjab University Thursday to deliver a lecture said, “When I shared the information about tod, fod and jod centres with Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, he very much liked it and assured me to set up the same in various schools.”

He added that Karnataka government has already given confirmation to set up such centres across 24,000 schools. “Soon I will be talking to Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal,” he added.

Pitroda informed, Tod fod and jod means de-construct, re-construct, re-purpose and create. Dismantled gadgets like watches, mouse, pens will be provided to students and they will be asked to re-set them.

Terming present teaching style as redundant, Pitroda said governments have to focus on new things.
