Haryana introduces string of measures to keep women safe
The Haryana Cabinet, which met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, condemned the recent incidents of crime against women and passed a resolution expressing “heartfelt sympathies” with the victims of such crimes and their families.
“The Council of Ministers condemns such acts of barbaric insensitivity and violation of human dignity. We resolve to bring the perpetrators of such heinous crimes to quick justice. Directions have been issued to the police to file chargesheets in the court within 30 days”, Hooda said after the meeting.
Chief Secretary, PK Chaudhery said, “An Additional Director General of Police has been appointed to exclusively supervise the measures taken to check crime against women. The investigating officers have been told to arrest the accused persons within 24 hours of registering an FIR.”
Measures taken
Woman police officers of the rank of DSP or Inspector to act as nodal officer in cases pertaining to crime against women appointed.
Women helpline — 1091— activated.
PCR vans, manned by woman police officers, introduced in all districts.
