Bangalore-based indigenous search engine guruji.com is planning to go global in the next couple of years. It plans to introduce Bengali, Punjabi, Marathi and Gujrati languages in the next six months in addition to the existing Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Telegu and Tamil languages.

"Our toughest competitor is Google," said Anurag Dod, chief executive officer of the company. Currently the engine serves around one crore users a month and is targeting around six crore in the next seven months, said Dod.

At present, guruji city search users can search for hotels, beauty parlors, gymnasiums, dentists, restaurants and other local businesses across more than 34 cities in the country in Guruji. The target is to expand the search coverage to 50 cities by 2008, Dod said.
