The Noida Authority announced details of the proposed Metro link between Noida and Greater Noida during its board meeting on Friday afternoon. Authority officials announced that due to the increasing population in Greater Noida and near the Yamuna Expressway, two stations had been added to the proposed Metro line in Greater Noida.

Senior officials said the length of the proposed line connecting the two areas would be 29.707 km, with 22 stations en route. While the scheduled speed of the Metro services has been set at 35 km per hour, the maximum speed attainable is 95 km per hour. The areas covered include Sector 32, Sector 51, Sector 83, Sector 101, Sector 143, Sector 147, Knowledge Park 2, Pari Chowk, Sectors Alpha and Delta. The proposed line ends at Knowledge Park 4.

An official said, “The costs will be spilt between the Noida and Greater Noida authorities based on the expenditure incurred in the areas of their jurisdictions. The total cost of the project is around Rs 5,500 crore. There is no timeframe that we can commit, but work will start as soon as possible.”

With a view to improving transportation infrastructure in the city, the Authority also announced the construction of a new bus terminal in Sector 62. “This will include alighting and boarding bays, and we will look to improve the bus circulation pattern including entry and exit points.
