New Delhi: The Government said it is aware of deceptive advertisements of several products like fairness creams on TV channels and action has been taken against them under the Cable Act.

In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting C M Jatua referred to fairness creams, height increasing products and talismans saying all TV channels are required to adhere to the programme and advertising code prescribed under the Cable TV Networks (Regulation) Act 1995.

"Wherever any complaint against violation of codes is brought to the notice of the ministry, action is taken as per the provisions of the Cable Act," the minister added.
