New Delhi: Dismissing BJP's allegation that Varun Gandhi has not been provided with adequate security, Home Minister P Chidambaram said that action has been initiated on the protection of the young MP taking into account the inputs provided by intelligence agencies.

Responding to BJP's deputy leader in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj's statement that Varun did not get "satisfactory" and "logical" response from him after seeking upgraded security, Chidambaram said the government has acted on the letter given by Varun on March 20.

"Government has also taken into account the inputs provided by the intelligence agencies. As in the case of every other protected person, the level of security provided to Varun Gandhi is periodically reviewed," the Home Minister said in a letter to Swaraj.

Referring to Swaraj's mentioning of the issue during Zero Hour in Lok Sabha on Tuesday, Chidambaram said he would be happy to respond in the House and disclose the level of security provided to Varun Gandhi.

"...I thought that (discussing the issue in Parliament) would defeat the very purpose of providing security to Varun Gandhi. I, therefore, suggest that, if you wish, you may kindly meet me and I shall take you into confidence about the security cover provided to Varun," the letter said.

Swaraj had said Varun had met the Home Minister in this regard but sadly the response he got was neither "satisfactory" nor "logical".

Mr Imran for the first instance I ask you a wrong question that despite a Pakistan, why Muslims live in India? I know this has no answer or a incorrect answer.After they arre here why do they go on creating problems to this country on the insistance of Pakistan or any other Gulf country. The basis and bais is religion.Take a sample of 100 cases of fake currency, arms smuggling,burning of trains,at times helping terror logistical activities.Can you reply why Mr Imran?Then answer the Varun Gandhi security. He is a patriotic guy who spoke against anti Hindus and defaacto if You find Muslims as anti Hindus then it is your true character and Varun has all rights to say and later or sooner all will say and till then you wait like I am waiting just like all of us are waiting.

Dear Imran Bhai, Security has been provided to Priyanka her husband and kids as well as all her relatives. Could you justify on what grounds the security was provided. What is their contribution. As far as Varun is considered he is a MP and like any other Indian he has a freedom of speech although he spread hatred but still he is an elected leader. As far as getting security on the grounds of what a person has contributed to the country, I think none qualifies for that leaving aside a few good men like President Kalam.

Varun is not the Home minister. Though it is possible that he could have manipulated the result and the state govt, it seems unlikely though
