The government is working on three specific measures to help the family of the 23-year old gangrape victim, including allotting them a free flat in the city.

It is reliably learnt that instructions have been issued at the highest level to identify an MIG (Middle Income Group) flat, preferably through the Delhi Development Authority, for the family to move in to.

After discussions with the family through intermediaries, the Centre is also learnt to have asked the government of Delhi to find an appropriate job for the elder of the victim’s two younger brothers.

For the younger brother, who is still in school, the effort is to secure a seat in a Delhi college. This is likely to be the most difficult, sources said. There may not be a category under which his case could be pushed; however, government interlocutors would talk with universities, the sources said.

While the necessary approvals are yet to be taken, an in-principle decision has been made at the highest level to go through with the moves.

The law to prevent atrocities against women will have to wait until the Justice Verma Committee submits its report. Sources said the panel will also look at the issue of juveniles involved in heinous crimes.

I am very happy to hear the family is getting house. Hope the news paper editor will make sure that the family gets everything mentioned here. If they don't get anything out of those mentioned then again and again publish in front.
