Govt planning campusing for vocational studies at schools: Bratya Basu
The West Bengal government would tailor curriculum for vocational studies in such a way that students could get to know about opportunities during campus interviews, state Higher Education and School Education Minister Bratya Basu said today.
"We are having talks with many institutes and preparing the curriculum in such a way that students know about career scopes and opportunities by introducing campusing," Basu said at a programme organised by Kolkata Municipal Corporation at Town Hall here.
Basu praised the 270 education centres run by KMC where children from lower middle class, middle class and even BPL families were studying.
He also lauded the KMC initiative to make education mandatory till class VII at its schools.
Basu inaugurated felicitation programme – academic excellence for learners of KMC schools at the heritage hall.
A total of 169 students were felicitated and given certificate at the event.
MMIC Education, KMC, Shashi Panja said by 2013 the corporation will set up 10 montessori schools in the city as pilot project.
