: As is being said, the good news is that there is no bad news. I agree. Mr Chidambaram has given a Budget of continuity. He has taken right from where he left off last year and has accelerated further to fuel growth and development.
Overall, it’s a good Budget. There has been talk about promoting tourism in this Budget. Fifteen new destinations would be promoted; an allocation of Rs 830 crore has been made for that.
Announcements pertaining to infrastructure development and employment for youth also excite me. Four new Institutes of Hotel Management have been announced. A good step, but India still lacks a world class culinary institute on the lines of CIA (Culinary Institute of America) or Cordon Bleu of France! No new taxes or cess on hotel/restaurant industry; there we heaved a sigh of relief.
The share prices of all good hotels and allied industries are on the rise. They are expected to do well in this financial year.
Another positive announcement is for the food processing industry. I welcome this step. It has come under priority sector with lots of incentives thrown in.
Cheap credits, establishing and upgrading premiere institutes, packaging machines imports being made cheaper and much more.
