Despite gloom reigning in most global economies and a slowdown being witnessed in several sectors in the country, the XLRI School of Business & Human Resources has successfully placed around 98% of its 240-strong batch of business management and human resources (HR) students in just four days.

The B-school saw the participation of 75 recruiting companies who made a total of 255 offers. While FMCG firms hired in big numbers at the campus, around 65 students got pre-placement offers from their summer internships with different companies.

The median salary of the batch was over R16.2 lakh per annum. The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) hired five candidates from XLRI’s 120 business management students. HR students, too, secured job offers in large numbers across sectors viz consulting, FMCGs and others. “Against the backdrop of an economic slowdown this year, it is truly gratifying to see many respected organisations coming to XLRI year after year for recruiting our talented students; we attribute the excellent placements this year as an affirmation by the industry of the high standards of management-centric education that we strive to deliver to our students,” said Father E Abraham, director, XLRI.

Participating FMCG firms, XLRI’s forte over the years, included Unilever, Procter & Gamble, ITC, Asian Paints, Castrol, Coca-Cola, among others.
