Girl raped, hanged days before her wedding

A 19-year-old, whose wedding was scheduled for next week, was allegedly raped and murdered in her home in Jharkhand's Palamu district, police said today.
According to an FIR lodged by the girl's father, her bleeding body was found hanging in her room after her family members, who had gone shopping for the wedding, returned home at Mangardaha locality yesterday afternoon.
The family members also claimed there were scratches on her body and that jewellery worth Rs 50,000 purchased for her marriage were also missing from the house.
The girl was to get married on Monday next and her mother is a panchayat representative.
The body has been sent for postmortem.
